I loved these celiac friendly baked goods. My wife — who eats gluten free food primarily to get along with me — encouraged me to say that she has never been more excited about eating gluten free bakery products. I think that the Shabtai Bakery’s secret-of-success is their creativity. The items are so unique that there is nothing to compare them to in the wheat-based world. For example, our favorite product was the black-and-white cookies. These were large, delicious almond cookies, artfully decorated with black and white frosting. The rainbow cookie squares were delightful — well named and so cleverly decorated that I actually had to look on the website to find out that they were actually sponge cake. The lady fingers were great, and the Shabtai website even links us to a recipe for using them to prepare tiramisu. My wife and I enjoyed the "Ring Tings" and the "Florentine lace cookies" and the "raspberry roll". These are hard to describe — check them out on the website— the taste as good as they look.
All the products are gluten free, lactose free, and free, as well as being kosher and free of transfats. They are manufactured in a dedicated gluten free facility.
Shabtai does not add a shipping charge to on-line orders of any size. This is a wonderful money-saver that allows you to avoid the temptation to order a large quantity to reduce the shipping cost per item. Like almost all gluten free food, the shelf life of these items is limited. I suggest that you consume the products within 24 hours (certainly within 48 hours) after breaking the seal on the package. Actually, I doubt that you will have a problem with this. These goodies taste so great that they will be eaten!
